About the yard
Kingswood Livery Stables is a DIY yard on Horsham Road at Findon Village, West Sussex. It has run as a DIY livery yard since the early 1980s, so owners do all the horse care themselves, including twice-daily care, mucking out and turn-out.
There are 17 acres of grazing beside the stables on well-drained chalk, with automatic water troughs in the paddocks. The modern schooling ring is 40 by 20 metres, with a composite sand surface and floodlighting. The website says some stables have been turned into business units, leaving 10 for livery.
The land opens straight onto bridleways, with about ten miles of bridleway to Arundel and Amberley without crossing a public road. The owner lives at the yard, and a resident trainer can stable a horse there, or owners can bring in their own tutor who must have liability insurance.
