About the yard

Catherston is a stud and livery yard at Croft Farm on the edge of Over Wallop, between Andover and Salisbury. The stud breeds dressage and eventing horses, and the livery runs alongside it with resident international dressage trainers and an elite eventing trainer on hand for instruction.

Stabled liveries get a 20-box American barn with rubber flooring, an indoor school with lights, a 60 by 25 metre outdoor school with jumps, a covered five-bay horse walker, a covered lunge pen, a solarium, a wash box and heated tack rooms. Staff live on site and there is CCTV. The yard describes its hacking as good and off road.

Rates are printed on a single sheet and quoted per day rather than per month. Full livery covers feed, hay, bedding, mucking out, turnout, grooming and exercise; part livery covers feed, hay, bedding, mucking out and turnout. Grass livery is cheaper in summer, when hay is not included. Sales livery is also offered, at a day rate plus VAT. The yard asks for four weeks' basic livery as a deposit to secure a place.
